About the role:

As a small but dedicated team, we are eager to work with those who share our passion for supporting those affected by  SA  and CSA in the Truth while preventing future harm.

The person in this role will have an opportunity to significantly shape the position as well as the organization itself. In addition to leading their own small volunteer team, the Victim-Survivor Empowerment Specialist will be a member of the Executive Committee and participate in decisions about the goals, strategy, functions, and governance of Voices for the Truth.

The person in this role should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, and willing to take initiative and identify paths forward. The person in this role should be collaborative and share the organizational commitment to collective decision-making and collaborative governance.

  • Responsibilities
    • Ensure victim-survivor voices are centered in all aspects of Voices for the Truth’s work
      • Offer education and guidance to Voices for the Truth’s members on trauma-informed care, victim-survivor experiences, and related topics
      • Establish relevant protocols around language, privacy, etc., and ensure each team’s compliance with said protocols
    • When appropriate, facilitate discussions and decisions of the Victim-Survivors Advisory Board
  • Qualifications
    • Must have at least 2 years of professional victim-survivor empowerment experience, broadly defined
    • Experience in the Truth (either as a current or former member) is strongly preferred
    • Training in victim-survivor advocacy, trauma-informed care, or similar is preferred but not required
    • Experience with the nonprofit sector is preferred but not required
  • Expectations
    • The role of Victim-Survivor Empowerment Specialist is an unpaid, volunteer position. A person in this position should expect to dedicate 5-10 hours per week to the role.

The Victim-Survivor Empowerment Specialist will participate in weekly status meetings and executive meetings by providing updates on their team’s work and consulting on organization-wide matters.
